BUN B SAYS ONLY 6 RAPPERS ARE MAKING MONEY IN HIPHOP RIGHTNOW.
Houston rap vetaran, and member of the now defunct UGK, Bun b claims only 6 rappers are making money off hiphop. He doesn't name names but says hiphop albums sales are at a alltime low.
I'm positive that he wouldn't have made this comment like 2-3 years ago when every rapper from the south was going platnum. Now that its clear that the domination of hiphop is slowly going back to the east, southern rappers should just be satisfied with their ringtone sales money. Not one southern rapper, apart from T.I and ludacris have been able to go Gold in the last 18months. A lot of them don't even sell up to 200k.
One cannot help but feel for the real rappers from the south that are going to be affected by this shift in control of hiphop. Real rappers like bun b himself, scarface, chamillionaire, ludacris, T.I and jeezy.
If i was meant to name the top 6 rappers making money from hiphop, i'd say kanye, lil wayne, T.I, eminem, young jeezy and the game.

JADAKISS TALKS COLLABO WITH DMX AND BRAND NEW ALBUM.
Concidering the climate of hiphop right now, you can say jadakiss's latest album, the last kiss, is a success.
His album is doing better numbers(copies sold) than more than 80percent of all artist out right now, in all genres. Talk about artist like ciara, keri hilson, mike jones, paul wall, soulja boy, flo rida, and the list goes on. Its like the hiphop scene did a 360.
Due to his sudden success, def jam has decided to pay more attention to his future projects. He already has 3 videos off the album and he just completed shoting the video for his latest single, who's real.
The remix ìs in the works and is going to future his old time ruff rydez co-artist, dmx. X is really excited about this and promises hiphop lovers his best.
Jada is already working on his next album, going to titled, top five dead or alive, due out in 10 months.
And he says the long awaited L.O.X, 3rd album would be out in a couple of months.
I guess jada's time to shine has come. Maybe he's luck changed after he did that tribute to biggie.

The fall of the southern rappers in hiphop.
About 4yrs ago something unexpected happened in the american hiphop scene. The domination of rap shifted from the east to the south. The crunk style of hiphop, common in the south was prominent, and it had everybody dancing to the so called hiphop songs.
Alot of other southern rappers took this advantage and floaded the market with their materials, adding their southern signature to the albums, and commercial success was theirs.
Rappers like mike jones, soulja boy, plies, paul wall, huricane chris, chamillionaire, are just a few of the artist blew up during this period. All of them seeing damn near a million in their album sales. But the same cannot be said of them now. Its like they were just a fard, as they come and go. Asides the big names like ludacris, T.I, chamillionaire, scarface, bun b, that have something in their songs and had already been established before the southern wave, the rest are now craving for ringtone sales.
Jadakiss, an eastcoast rapper with no radio hit, sellìng more than soulja boy.

THE RETURN OF THE POP OF HIPHOP(EMINEM).
My friend once asked me why jesus came as a white person. Was he really white or where we told by the same white people that he was white? No one knows for real. What we do know is that they like to dominate in all the spheres of life.
Eminem has received a lot of hate during his rap career. Alot of people say he wouldn't have been so much a commercially successful artist if we weren't white.
I agree with that to some extent, but you cannot take away the fact that he is a lyrical genius. He is skilled on the mic and a poetic rapper. But that alone would not have guaranteed his album the commercial success they attain, if not for his whitty rhymes and controversial lyrics.
All said, em has definately left his prints on the sands of time.
Relapse, em's 5th studio album, dropped 2 days ago, tue 18th may. The album has been predicted to sell over 500,000 in its first week.
Go and get the album if you want to hear something different.

THE RICK ROSS AND 50 CENT BEEF HAS HELPED THE SALES OF THEIR PREVIOUS ALBUMS.
The beef between 50 cent and rick ross turned out to be beneficial, as their previous albums have increased in sales.
In a feud that has seen mock funerals [click to watch], jheri curl-wearing pimps [click to watch] and a touch of pornography, there can be only one real victor. According to Billboard magazine, Universal Music Group (parent company to both Aftermath/Interscope and Def Jam) may be the real winner.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, the sales of Ross' previous albums Port of Miami [click to read] and Trilla [click to read] have increased by 62%. Meanwhile 50's three previous albums, Get Rich or Die Tryin' [click to read], The Massacre [click to read] and Curtis [click to read] saw their sales grow by 74%.
"And the more the bloggers wrote about the battle, according to the online chatter tracker Nielsen BuzzMetrics, the more the two artists reaped the benefits," notes Billboard's Mariel Concepcion. As one of the most significant battles fought primarily over the Internet, the question of how both artists can turn beef into dollar signs was raised.
As of Tuesday, Ross' third effort has him nearly halfway to a gold record with 200,000 copies sold. Ross and his camp at Island/Def Jam maintain they have not relied solely on beef to promote the Deeper Than Rap [click to read]. And various online viral marketing campaigns would seem to back the statement up.
With 50 having reworked his upcoming, Before I Self Destruct [click to read], the only remaining question is if the fans will lose interest in the feud before the album sees a physical release date.
"Of course anything [Ross] does may help 50 Cent sell more albums as well," adds Concepcion. "And when 50 releases 'Self Destruct'--no doubt accompanied by a fresh round of bravado--Ross' album may get a boost from the album as well."

HIP HOP NEWS.
Fabolous, the new york rapper is soon going to be dropping his second album on def jam, after being brought on the label by jay-z about 3 years ago. The album, "loso's way" he says is going to cater for for bought his male and female fan base.
There has always been rumors of eminem's drug adiction. His ex wife, kim always used to talk about it in interviews, but nobody took her seriously, but the man himself has come out to talk on his drug addiction.
This is what he had to say.
"I wanted to make an overall statement--I'm back," Em said. "It was a slow process. You gotta remember I hadn't recorded a song sober in seven years. So it took me awhile to even feel like I could record a song sober...I don't know the last time I shot a video sober, without drinking or taking anything. It's been years...I almost feel like a little kid again with rap. I wanna play around with different flows. If I don't feel like it's what I'm fully capable of, if there's one weak line, I wanna change it. Rap was my drug. It used to get me high and then it stopped getting me high. Then I had to resort to other things to make me feel that...now rap's getting
me high again." (Rap Radar)
I wasn't ready to give up drugs," Em explained. "I didn't really think I had a problem...I felt like I wanted to pull back, because my drug problem had got so bad. I felt like, maybe if I take a break, maybe this will help. I started to get into the producer role more."

Amidst all the beefing, it seems rick ross comes out the winner. All the character assasination 50 cent has been trying for a couple of months now didn't do any good. Rick ross's third studio album, "deeper than rap" debuts at number one on the billboard top 200 albums this week, moving 158,000 copies in its first week in stores.
Asher roth, new comer rapper, that has been co-signed by eminem, after em heard the new kid, and admitted he liked him, debutes at number 2 this week.
Jada is still holding it down this week at number 3, and hoping to go gold anytime soon.
