MORE ON THE GAME/JAY-Z BEEF.

After jay-z dropped the diss attacking jim jones, game n damon dash, it was obvious game would be the one to hit back the hardest.
We know jay put out that freestyle as bait to get game to diss him, and thereby create buzz for his upcoming album(blueprint3 Controversy sells. But i bet jay didnt bargain for this much verbal attack.
After dissing jay during performances at two of his concerts in spain and france with freestlyes, he recently dropped a full diss track called 'i'm so wavy'.
On this track he attacks jay with lines like; 'no one on the corner got swagger like you, cos no one on the corner is 42'. This takes extract from jay and t.i's track, 'swagger like us.'
The game says this is just the first untill jay replies. And judging from his past rap beefs, you can count on game to drop diss tracks every week untill jay replies.
I hope jay wouldn't get more than he bargained for, because game knows no barriers when it comes to beefs.

NAS TALKS 10TH ALBUM, FOLLOW UP TO 'UNTITLED'.

Nas dropped his first album, illmatic, in 1994, when he was just 20years old. 15years gone, 9 albums in record, and he is still relevant in hip-hop.
Nas is dropping a collabo album with damian marley(son of late bob marley) next month, august. After which he'd start works on his next solo album.
This is what nas had to say concerning the album:
'it's funny, drama is something that definately kicks a fire underneath artists. But i try not to make that my focus. I'm trying to have peace and love. My shit now is age appropraite for myself. I love everything, must of the things that are going on musically. But my music will talk about what i see, how i see it, and it should be interesting. My last things were about what i felt about hip-hop and what i felt about race matters. This new thing will be natural thing. I have a few things that i feel like doing, but who knows what will be.'

ryan reynolds green lantern. what's up with common?

Ryan reynold, actor last seen in the most recent in the x-mem series, x-men: origin, as deadpool, has been chosen over two other finalists for the role of Hal Jordan in Green Lantern. This news was recently issued by variety.
Chigago based rapper, Common was in talks to play the role of the negro member of green lantern, but not much has been said on the matter lately.
Although hal jordan is the more dorminant character, it would be good to see common casted in the green lantern movie.
Common has stared in movies like; smoking aces, street kings and american gangsar.

NAS AND DAMIAN MARLEY, 'DISTANCE RELATIVES'.

When the two artist collaborated on 'road to zion', the lead single of damian's 2005 album, 'welcome to jamrock', the streets was loving the rap and reggae fusion. It was just so appealing to the ear. Plus the two artist have always been known to deliver some of the best conscious music in their individual musical genre.
They are currently working on a collaborative album, 'distant relatives'. Nas recently spoke on the album;

'I just think it was me & damian finding our way. When you have two different artists working on a record, when they're used to doing their own way, it's not easy as people may think. We just flowed, and the next thing we looked up and there were so many songs done or so many songs started and worked. . . we just decided to keep it going. It's not reggae, it's not rap. It's diffirent for each of us.'

Damian also shed some light on the album in a recent interview;
'Once we started working on the music, it was nas who said to me, !"Yo we should just make this a full album".

JAY-Z AND GAME BEEF.

Jay-z dissed compton california rapper, the game, on a free-style in vegas over the weekend. I saw this coming, after game dropped a song in auto-tune recently, indirectly dissagring with jay-z's death of auto-tune track.
But the fact remains that jay never liked game from day one.
On west-side story, game's first single, he rhymed 'i dont do button-up shirts and drive maybach'. Jay took it as a shot at him. The game later cleared the air that he was refering to jarule with that line, but jigga wasn't buying that. The bad blood has been with the two artist since then, although bubbling under the radar.

Back to the present, the game dropped a freestyle diss reply at jay in madrid(spain), from his european tour, on monday.
Its clear that jay is just using a marketing strategy to get people talking before he drops blueprint 3(his 11th album). He baited game, because he knew the game would most likely reply him.
I see this turning to some interesting, entertaining warfare. Lets see where they go with it.

HIPHOP SCENE IS BECOMING PEACEFUL. (PART 2)

In the last 10 months or so, a lot of rap beefs have been squashed:
T.I ended his long time fued with fellow atlanta rapper, ludacris. He also ended beef with shawty-lo, before going in to serve his one year jail term, on gun possesion charges.
50 cent ended beef with the whole d-block clique(jadakiss, sheek louch and styles p). He also ended beef with the dipset clique(juelz santana, jim jones, freeky zeeky and camron).
California rapper, the game, ended his beef with joe budden. And he recenty apologized(via an interview on mtv) to 50cent, dr dre and eminem. Who would have ever thought that would happen.
It would be good to see all the talented rappers in hiphop do collabos together instead of beefing and arguing about who is better than who.

HIPHOP SCENE IS BECOMING PEACEFUL. (PART 1)

Since Jay-z and Nas squashed their beef, it seems not impossible for any other set of rappers to make peace.
Rap beefs have been present on the hiphop scene for years. KRS1 and MC SHEM had their thing back in the late 80's. Dr dre and eazy-e had theirs in the early 90's. Beefs have sprung-up from dissagreement with former label mates, to clash of egos, to plainly trying to prove that you are better than one rapper or the other. It had always remained on wax, untill the Biggie/Tupac issue.
Back in 1995 west coast rapper, tupac shakur was shot five times upon entering the QUARD studios in New York. It just so happened that biggie and puff daddy were also present in the building during the shooting. Pac concluded that they must have known about the hit, and that gave birth to their fued. The beef led to the death of these two legendary rappers.
There have been a lot of rap wars after that, but must of them have stayed on wax.

NAS COMMENTS ON DRAKE AND GIVES SCARFACE PROPS.

Newcomer rapper, drake has everybody talking. Jamie foxx compared him with ll cool j, as he makes songs for the ladies. Jay-z already has him on blue print 3. Rihanna is supposedly in love with him.
Here is what nas has to say about him:

'I'm listening to drake and always, scarface.' Nas revealed in an interview. 'Drake is new. He's here to show anybody who questions him that he'll get at you. He's like fresh water right now on dry land. Scarface is the realist rapper. He's the most musically serious, besides kanye, right now. What scarface says in his rhymes is real. You can't get away from wayne right now, so that's what i'm listening to. I'm waiting on dr dre's album.'

Drake is signed to young money records(lil waynes label) with distribution from universal records.

GANGSTERISM AND VIOLENCE IN RELATION TO RAP MUSIC. (PART 3)

I think the rap group, NWA(Notable members- ice cube, dr dre and eazy e) gave birth to gangster rap. Then branched out: dre found snoop, eazy found bone thugz-n-harmony and ice cube formed the west side connection. All that was on the west coast. In the late 80's, when you had NWA serving out the gangster shit in the west, you had rappers like krs1, Rakim and big daddy cane(in the east) who just delivered bragadocious rap(for the last two) and conscious rap for the first.
You can count atleast a dozen celebrated rappers that blew up selling their gang-related stories to the public: 50cent, young jeezy, the game, tupac, dmx, mobb deep, rick ross and lots more. Not to say some of these rappers are/were not talented, but the gang factor added to their success.
Should that be the only subject black people would be able to talk about? We sound so ignorant and outdated like there is no better way to live ones life. Like we have been tought to believe we can't get bigger than we are. Deep rooted through slavery.

GANGSTERISM AND VIOLENCE IN RELATION TO RAP. (PART 2)

Rap music, hiphop as a whole was started by the blacks, the african-americans back in the 70's. It was a way of expressing one's self. It was dorminated by the afro-americans, and a large majority of them, not untill recently, were in the lower class. Majorly reciding in housing projects built by the government to house the blacks, probably because they felt the race was not fit to stay amongst original citizens.
Being in a position where you can't get a job to feed your family because of discrimination brought out the worst in these people.
And they finally found a means to live a better life through music, so they exploit it and express themselves through it. Telling the public about their hardknock life and struggle to come up.
There is nothing wrong with that, but if you continue to stay in that level(mindstate of poverty and slavery), then there is a problem.
Why would you be proud of telling the whole world how you kill people the same colour as you. Black on black crime. How backward is that.

GANGSTERISM AND VIOLENCE IN RELATION TO RAP MUSIC. (PART 1)

It is so sad how the public seem to tag rap with negetivities like violence and gangsterism. People make the mistake of judging a good rap album by how hood or gang-related the artist is(are). Rappers now dwell on that factor and sell gangsterism. It's now about how good you can paint a gang-related/affiliated picture in your lyrics, mixed with ghetto 'rags to riches stories'. This should not be the case in judging how good a rap artist is. It should be about the lyrical content, mic skills, delivery and flow.
You have exceptional rappers like common, talib kweli, lupe fiasco, mos def, kanye west and krs 1 that don't fuse any form of gangsterism in their lyrics.
Back in 2006, after nas dropped his hiphop is dead album, southern rapper, young jeezy questioned nas's rights in making that statement. His reason was that nas had never been in a gang, he has never sold drugs or busted guns before. Now, should that be the criteria for making a statement like 'hiphop is dead'? Is that the criteria of a good rapper?

JAY-Z STOPS CHRIS BROWN FROM PERFORMING AT THE JUST CONCLUDED B.E.T AWARDS.

It was said that chris brown was scheduled to perforn at the recently concluded B.E.T awards, last sunday, june 28th. Due to the recent passing of pop legend, micheal jackson, on thursday, june 25, the organisers decided to theme the awards night a micheal jackson tribute. In accordance to that, chris brown was included in the roaster of artist to perform, alongside other entertainers like beyonce and jay-z. But last minutes moves were made, and chris brown was booted off the roaster.
It was said that jay-z said he would not perform if chris brown goes on stage. Unfair as it seem, the organisers had to ride with the bìgger artist.
Chris entered jay-z's bad books when he physically assaulted rihanna, back in feb, his then girlfriend and a very good friend of jay's.
