It is only usually that EMINEM would be at the top this week. If you know his track record with sales, then you know that he could't have sold lower than he did. Eminem's RECOVERY album sold 774,000 copies this week to put it as number 1, both on the RAP & HIPHOP charts, and also, the over all TOP 200 CHARTS ON BILLBOARD. And in the world charts, he sold 1,098,000 copies in its first week; that is very typical of eminem. The hype of the album also brought back his last year's best selling rap album on the charts again this week. RELAPSE sold 8,400 copies, bringing the total sales to 1,986,000 copies in the U.S so far.

Drake is number two on the charts this week, with his "thank me later" album selling 157,000 copies this week. That is okay for a normal rapper, but with all the hype drake had, and all the money that has been spent on promoting the album in the last year or so, i was expecting it to do better than that. He is at a total of 604 this week. That is a long way from 2 million copies; what LIL WAYNE predicted the album would do in its first week.


The one and only rap band i know, "the roots", are on the charts this week with their new album, HOW I GOT OVER. The album sold 51k in its first week in stores.

B.O.B's "adventures of bobby ray" sold 19k this week, bringing the total sales to 268,000 copies. Nas and Damian Marley sold 8,900 copies of their DISTANT RELATIVES album this week, bringing their total sales to 134,000 copies.

As was expected, and predicted, DRAKE's debut album, "thank me later", is at the top of the charts this week. The album sold 447,000 copies, after one week in stores. I think they are great numbers, but as he said on his song, "you're the best", i could sell a blank disc; yeah, he could have sold a blank disc with all the buzz he had going for him.

The next rapper in line after drake this week is b.o.b, with 20,000 copies sold. That brings his total sales, for his "the adventures of bobby ray to 249,000 copies. Southern rapper, PLIES, also moved 20,000 copies this week; his second week in stores with his "goonaffiliated" album, which is now at 76,000 copies.

Other notable mentions on the chart this week are "ludacris's" BATTLE OF THE SEXES, and NAS and DAMIAN MARLEY's "distant relatives", which bought sold 11,000 copies individually this week. Luda is at 462,000 copies, and nas and damian are at 125,000 copies of their revolutionary album.

Let's wait and see what eminem does next week. I have personally heard the album, RECOVERY, and i think it is fire. It started off a bit ehh, but by the 4th track, it is a roller coaster ride till the end.

A LOOK AT THE BILLBOARD CHARTS.

This week is not looking so good for the rap scene; SNOOP DOGG dropped the follow up to his MALICE N WONDERLAND album, titled MORE MALICE, which is like a compilation, and not really a full length release. In it's first week, it moved 15k copies, not so solid, but something for a release that is not considered an album.

The other new album to be considred on the chart, which is on its second week in stores is LUDACRIS'S BATTLE OF THE SEXES, which has sold a total of 243k till date, and 45k this week.


Other notables on the chart are DJ KHALEED'S cd, VICTORY, which is at a total of 47k, with just 4,200 copies sold this week. You also have 50 CENT still hanging there with his 4th studio album, still on the charts. BEFORE I SELF DESTRUCT moved 3,700 copies this week with a total of 466k so far.

The paper is really trailing behind t.i, as his album still stands at the top of the rap album chart and number 11 on the top 200 r&b and hiphop albums. He is almost 2 million in sales, and he is on his way to jail to serve a jail term any moment from now. The total sales of the paper trail album is at 1,749,100.
Wayne still hold it down on the charts after more than 7 months on the charts. He has gone tripple platinmun, that means he has sold more than 3 million copies of his latest album. That is the highest he has ever sold in his 6 album career. I wish him all the best. The album moves 14,800 units this week. He is at a total of 3,044,600 with the album.
New entry this week on the charts comes from new york rapper, joe budden, with his latest work, "padded room". He didn't have a club banger single, and he has not dropped an album for a while now, so we can pardon his low first week sales. His album sales 13,900 this week.
