R&B Feauture- Nina David; The Next Big Thing
I have always been blessed with the gift of telling a hit when it was just another song from the album; or a star when he/she was just a struggling artiste. Today, right now, i am here to tell you that i recognize a star in the making in new comer, r&b singer, Nina David. She has all the qualities that can only translate to super stardom, so i say to you; WATCH OUT FOR NINA DA DIVA.
I would give you a little tip of the ice berg which would include a short biography, and what i think she is going to achieve in the Nigerian music industry, which is blowing up right now. She grew up listening to Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey; this alone should tell you that she is well grounded in her music, because any music enthusiast would know that those three names were some of the biggest and must talented r&b acts of the 90's.
She wondered how they seemed to live their audience in awe while performing on stage, and also the fact that their music always felt heavenly to her. As an early teen, she started writing her on lyrics, and turned it to a hubby. While girls of her age(and her beauty) where getting in trouble, she was busy in the School of Self Development, and i must say it paid off quiet well. In this world, what you sow is what you rip; what you put in is what you get. All her years of dreaming and practicing are now paying off.
Of course, success those not come without it's challenges, i guess that is what they mean by the saying; "life is not a bird of roses". But in her chase, it was not really a case of problems or challenges, but the fact that she was almost derailed with her Modeling Prospects. Because of her Striking Beauty and Startling height, she found herself succeeding in the modeling industry. But, as she said herself, one hardly forgets their first love. In her case, it was the love for music; the love of singing to heal people emotionally and making them feel better; singing to pass a message; performing and putting up a show for a lot of people to be entertained.
This ended up in her tracing her roots back to the music industry. She has two singles on radio presently, "sisi eko" and "sugar daddy". I can say she is a super blend of Class, Sassyness and deep lyrics right in the middle. That is all i would say for now, so that she would have the Awe effect on you when you hear her or see her on T.V.
In my study of the most successful people in the music industry the world over, and also in different spheres of life, i found out that they have one in thing in common; they all knew at a very tender age that they would be great at what they did, and they never doubted it, which made them stay on that dream till they achieved. Lil Wanye started rapping when he was 13 years old, he didn't blow up till 3 years ago when he was 25 years old; Nas started rapping when he was10 years old, and dropped his classic debut album, ILLMATIC, when he was 20years old; Beyonce started singing, and was in her group with Kelly Roland when they were bought 9, she didn't blow up until she was 15 years old(with Destiny's Child), Jay-z started rapping when he was 20 years old, but didn't drop his first album, Reasonable Doubt, till when he was 27 years old. I can go on and on, but one thing that all this people did was to hold on to their dreams and persist until they made it, and when you do that, God would pay you back for all the years you stuck to your dream and did not give up.
So, i say to you that i greatly think Nina David has paid her dues, and it is time for her to rip the fruits of her labour.
Watch Out for Nina David!!!
