Fashawn - Talks Nas,
This new school rapper is talking about how he was influenced by nas's first album, "illmatic" which he listened to in 2001. The album was released in 1994, but he said he said he got it because nas rapped in "got yourself a gun", the first single off "stillmatic", where he said "hit the record store, get my whole collection"; and that is exactly what this young man did.

GAME'S BUZZ
GAME's album, R.E.D is dropping very soon, and he is trying to get all the buzz he can before then. I think he is doing real hard work on that. He shot the video to a song, "shake" that is confirmed not to be a single on his upcoming album. He also just released the video for 400bars, a song on his new mixtape, RED ROOM; and he also went ahead to shoot the video for the song he did with pharrell for his mixtape, "it must be me". Wow! So much hard work, i do hope it translates to success.
I like the strategy he is using, trying to be everywhere, on every radio station and music t.v station, so that people get used to his name once again. I must say that he also recently dropped his official first single, "ain't no doubt about it", featuring JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. People are having mixed feelings about this song; some say they don't like it at all, that game came off soft on the pharrell beat, some say it is game trying some experimenting, and that they like it; what i have to say is that the song would have to take time to grow on people because they are not used to hearing game on soft beats, but i must say you can't take away the fact that game's verses on the song were really hot and on point, so with that alone, i give the song a chance.

NAS AND KELIS RELEASING ALBUMS A DAY APART.
Surprisingly, veteran rapper, NAS and his ex-wife, are dropping albums a day apart in MAY. KELIS, who has not dropped an album since her 2006 album, Kelis Was Here [Explicit]
, is dropping her 5th album "flesh tone" on may 17, a day before nas drops his collaborative album with DAMIAN MARLEY, "distant relatives.
Watch out for that nas and damian marley album, and go out and get it when it drops on may 18th; support HIPHOP. I have heard three tracks from it, the first single (as we enter), and two other dope tracks, and i think it would be an enlightening album, as well as a fine blend of rap and reggae.
I have to say that i saw the video to kelis's new single, "acapella", and it really beat me up to think that she and nas are seperated; they were so good together, and she is looking really fine in that video. Anyway, i feel that is what it is, and i wish them luck with handling the kid they have together.

GAME' R.E.D ROOM MIXTAPE.
West coast rapper, GAME, dropped his latest mixtape today, R.E.D ROOM. If you would ask me, it is more or less like an album. It has all types of super weight guest appearances; from jim jones, to diddy, jada kiss, to fabolous, and a host of others. The mixtapes starts with his much talked about 20 minutes rap song; 400 bars, which is a follow up to his 2005 track, 300 bars and gunning.
This is just a warm up for his fans till his album drops on june 15, and i think his fans would not be dissapointed. I have not heard the whole mixtape, but the 3-4 tracks i have heard tell all of what someone is to expect.

NIGERIAN RAPPER, DA GRIN, DEAD
Wow! I just took a nap a couple of hours ago, and i wake up to the news that young iconic NIGERIAN RAPPER, DA GRIN just passed away. Da GRIN IS DEAD! It is really hard for me to believe. I never really get emotional like this, but it is just unbelievable that someone with sooo much energy for the world would just pass like that.
He was in a car wreck and was confirmed dead yesterday, april 22, 2010,at 7 in the evening. His passing just makes me feel like any of us can die at anytime. I think he would be greatly missed in the Nigerian music scene, and my love goes out to his family and close friends.
He was like a breath of fresh air; the perfect blend of lyricism, and wit. His infusion of the local yoruba dialect and English in his raps couldn't have been better; it was brilliant. Wow! I am still overwhelmed. And a lot of people wouldn't know how much they miss him till some time pass and you are wondering, "is he really gone for real?" It is just so sad.
It is just so sad that he had so much more to give to Nigerians, and the world at large; this is kinda like how tupac was when he died. I ain't saying their music was the same, but the energy they brought with it, and the fans they seemed to gather.
