beat-maker, bangladesh, talks about working on nas's 10th album.

Incase you dont know, veteran rapper, nas is presently working on his tenth studio album. There has been a lot of talks on which producers would be featured on the masterpiece; from kanye west, to dr dre, to alchemist, to swizz beats, but one producer we are sure of at this point is the man that gave us the LIL WAYNE "a millie", BANGLADESH.

Check out what he had to say below:
"I just do what i would like to hear from him. I am a super nas fan. I have been a fan since he came out. Since the first song. With me being a producer and me having a sound, i would like to hear him on harder beats, more 808-driven, just more aggression. With a nas record, typically to me, the songs will make the track good. It's not the track that makes the song good and that is what i want to bring. I want to bring the track and the song so that you are not only jamming to the beat with words on it, but you can jam to the beat and the word on it, but you can jam to the beat and the words and you can jam to the acapella with no beat on it."

This is interesting to me, because that is what i have been telling all these young rap listeners and people that listen to a rap song because it is hot on radio; try and listen to the song without the beat and you would find out that you have been fed garbage. That is the difference between nas and all these other artist, he is actually saying something worth listening to, he is actually making sense with every word.

It is a wonderful thing that bangladesh is actually a nas fan and understands what nas stands for, so he would know how far nas can go in the attempt to make a radio friendly track.

Below is more of what bangladesh had to say:
"I think he is a great songwriter but sometimes his beats aren't as good as his songs. I want to bring the element where it is more aggressive, more heavy, something that's going to pay more attention to nas in an area where he doesn't get looked at a lot."

I just hope bangladesh doesn't try to take nas out of his element. I know IRV GOTTI(C.E.O OF MURDER INC) tried to do it back in 2002; he had already started saying nas was signed to his label, they went on to make a song(nas, jarule and ashanti) back in 2002, but nothing came out of it.
I just hope they are able to pull this off without giving nas a 'sell-out artist image'.

lupe fiasco's fan beg record label for release of LASERS

I think there is nothing sweeter than what LUPE FIASCO'S fans just did; they sent a petition to ATLANTIC records, lupe's record label, to request the drop date of fiasco's third album, "lasers", that has been complete since last summer. I think there is no more motivation than this for any artist to get; when your fans genuinely go all out to get your album out, meaning they really need it.

Below is the petition from the fans:
"Dear Atlantic Records: The fans below have been waiting for the release for Lupe Fiasco's album 'Lasers' for over a good year now. Since when it was originally announced last summer, there has still yet to be a release date announced. It has even been stated by Lupe Fiasco the artist himself, that the album si in fact completed. Enough is enough, we demand that you stop playing around and give us the album that we have been highly anticipating since the release of The Cool." (Petition Online)

I think if my fans did that for my book release i would definitely cry...Anyway, this is really good for hip hop. This shows that there are still fans of real hiphop out there. Lupe Fiasco is one of the rappers that came out the last decade that i really respect; he has depth, super smooth delivery, and some thoughtful lyrics. I think he is a real hip hop head, a lover of rap music, and he is not just in it for the fame and the money or anything like that.

I still bump FOOD AND LIQUOR(his first album), and THE COOL(second album), everytime in my deck. Infact, i have food and liqour on my phone, and i listen to it every now and then.

Below is what lupe had to say about the petition:
"I love to see progression," he said yesterday via phone. "I love it. I love to see this petition. It brought me to tears a couple of times like, 'these n---as really f--- with me. All these kids and these fans f--- with me and it's some positive sh--. Go to Wearenotlosers.com and see what Lasers really is. ... That's what they're petitioning for. Listen to 'I'm Beamin,' the song. It reaffirms what we're doing...I don't think the label cares about an album. I don't think n---as care. People just want their number-one record. They don't care about the rest of the album. I was talking to an engineer the other day and he said, 'These n---as don't even care about mixing an album no more.' They just want the first three songs. Three singles. They get them, one, two, three, they don't care what's on the rest of the album. I know this for sure. I've seen it. You can't blame them because of the attention span of the game and the attention span of music, how fast things are going. You only got them one, two, three shots. I'm not no fool. I'm looking at it like 'Yeah, you're right.'" (MTV)
I think this is very true, record labels don't really care about the album as a whole any more, they are just interested in those hot singles that are radio friendly; club friendly. And the thing is that, i don't totally blame them, because they are in it for the money; they are a business, that is why it is called the music industry, so the demand is what they are concerned about.

Below is what the recod label had to say:
"#Lasers is coming folks!," Atlantic wrote Saturday (July 24).

Very short, but i guess they answered the question.

fat joe drops 10th album, 'THE DARKSIDE VOL 1'

Veteran New York rapper, fat joe, dropped his 10th album, THE DARKSIDE VOL 1 yesterday, tuesday the 27th of july 2010. The album's first single 'haha: slow down' featuring Southern rapper, YOUNG JEEZY, was for the streets, while the follow-up single, 'if it aint about the money' which featured r&b singer TREY SONGZ, was for the ladies.

People might say this and that about joe, but howmany rappers do you know that has made it up to 10 albums? Okay, JAY-Z has 11 albums under his belt. Nas has 9, ll cool j has 13. But howmany rappers have been in the game for close to 20 years(1st album in 93) and can still make relevant music? Very few. You should give him props for that alone. And as i have said, times without number, forget the singles, those are radio friendly songs, just go and listen to the full length album to get the real deal.

This would be his first album to be released under his new label, E1 ENTERTAINMENT.

I would heard out tomorrow to get the album, and i might have a review of it here, Godwilling, on sunday.

What do you think about tupac's death?

A lot has been said about tupac's death; some believe it was gang related; some believe it was political; and some don't even believe he is dead. Tupac, and the issues surrounding his death has been matter of top discussion amongst hiphop lovers and non-hiphop lovers for over a decade now. Tupac was shot dead in las vegas sept 1996, after a tyson fight. The fact that the shooter, who drove up to the car that carried pac and suge knights and opened fire, was never caught is the root of all the controvercy surrounding his death.

Me personally, i think tupac is really dead, but who killed tupac is still a question i haven't found an acceptable answer to.

Examing the gang hit factor to his death is questionable, because i don't think CRIPS would have had that much time to re-group and issue a hit on pac. I am saying this because a lot of people believe pac was killed in association with the fight he had gotten into just before living the tyson fight venue. He beat up a known crip for some chain snatching allegation. I think that was just something to take peoples eyes of the big picture. The person that popped pac must have had enough time for planning and also must have been a porn for a bigger organization, big enough to know the shooter would never be caught.

If you ask me; kay, do think pac was set up by the government of the united states, i would say yes. Tupac, like many revolutionary black individuals was killdd by the govt because of the influence he had on so many black people, especially the youth.

If you were asked to listen to a malcom x tape containing teachings or a tupac cd, i am sure you would go with pac. That is were tupac's power was, he was reaching out to the set the other revolutionaries before him couldn't; THE YOUTH.

rap albums on the billboard charts.

I apologise for posting this a bit late, you know i usually post this particular topic between wednesday and friday, but i have been working on completing this book i am writing, so i was really busy.

With that said, i would like to get into the main thing. Eminem is still at number one this week on the billboard top 200 rap album charts with 229,000 copies sold this week, bringing his total after 3weeks in stores to 1,287,000. With this kind of sales it wouldnt be long before he sells double platinum.

game about to drop another mixtape wholely produced by duo producers "cool n dre"

Yeah, game is about to drop a follow-up mixtape to his RED ROOM mixtape, titled BRAKE LIGHTS, but what people really want is his album, THE R.E.D album, which is has been pushed more times than necessary. I guess he doesn't have the type of buzz that interscope is worthy enough to drop his album. This is going to be his fourth album, and although he worked on the last two all by himself, this one has the control of JIMMY IOVINE and "dr dre".

I am a GAME an i really can't wait for the albu to drop, but i feel what he is going through, when you don't have total control to your work, there are a lot of things you can't just pull off like that. I wish him luck. I do know that this mixtape would be a banger because that is what he makes when he works with COOL N DRE.

Below is what he had to say about the mixtape:
"Here go the 1st single M.I.A. off the me & @djskee new mixtape "BRAKE LIGHTS" hittin streets next week.http://tinyurl.com/2fx7u75," Game tweeted Thursday (July 15) night.

"Every beat on the BRAKE LIGHTS mixtape is produced by @coolanddre & hosted by @djskee. This tape is serious, better than most n!ggas albums." (Game's Twitter)

camron droppin new album(Gunz N Butta) in collaboration with his new protege, vado.

The harlem rapper, CAMRON, who recently re-united with his longtime associates, JUELZ SANTANNA and JIM JONES, after about 4years of beefing, is about to drop a new album(Gunz N Butta) that(all 16 tracks) was co-written by his new protege, VADO.

His last album,'crime pays', dropped last year with first sales of 65,000; not too impressive, but not bad for an artist on an indie label. Cam's lattest work would also be dropping on E1 ENTERTAINMENT, fomerly known as KOCH RECORDS, which also houses veteran rapper, SHEEK LOUCH and FAT JOE. Instead of 35cents that the artist on major labels get, they get up to 8dollars on each cd sold. I think it is a wise decision for any known rapper, that has some money to push around to go indie(independent) in this climate of dwindling sales in the music industry.

The first single off the album, 'speaking in tungs', is already out, and the album is scheduled to drop august 31.

rap album on billboard charts: eminem has sold a million copies in 2 weeks.

Eminem still sits at the top of the charts this week, his 6th album, RECOVERY, is on its second week at number one on the billboard top 200 album charts. Eminem moved 313,000 copies of his album this week, bringing the total, in the two weeks it has spent in stores, to 1,058,000; that means eminem already has a platinum plague for his lattest effort. He sold 523,000 copies worldwide this week ; if you add that to his 1,098,00 copies, that is 1,621,000 copies in 2 weeks globally. It is such a shame that with all this numbers, which would result to more money for him, he is still the must unhappy, unstable, emotionally disturbed rapper that i know.

Next on the charts this week is DRAKE's debut effort, "thank me later", which sold 105,000 copies this week, bringing the total to 709,000. The numbers are impressive for the climtae of hiphop right now, when a lot of rappers are struggling to sell 300,000 copies(except from jay-z, lil wayne, kanye west, young jeezy, and maybe GAME). But i still expected more from his album than this. He has as much buzz as when 50 cent dropped, and 50 sold over 1.6mill in 2 weeks; THE GAME didn't have as much buzz as drake had, and he still sold a million copies in 3 weeks. So for drake to be on his third week in stores, and still about 300k from platinum, then that isn't impressive enough for him. I just hope he recoups all that has been spent on his promotion so far.

Drake and his other "young money" colleagues have finally gone gold with their WE ARE YOUNG MONEY debut. The album sold 3,800 copies this week, bringing the total to 500 copies sold so far. And the latest album(how i got over) from THE ROOTS sold 21,000 copies this week, bringing their total in 2 weeks to 72k

young buck turns down G-UNIT re-union.

The former G-UNIT soldier and nashville rapper, YOUNG BUCK, said at a recent concert that he is not ever considering a g-unit re-union. It came in the wake of some recent interviews where west coast rapper, and former g-unit member THE GAME, said he could go along with a g-unit re-union, solely for the commercial/financial benefit it would bring for the both party's(he and 50 cent.). It surprised a lot of people, including me; because GAME always had something negative to say about all the members of g-unit in the past, and he sure was instrumental to their downfall, and to say he would consider joining forces with them again will surprise anybody that knows the history of their beef.

I guess he is trying to be mature about it, but BUCK wants non of that.

Below is what young buck had to say:

"I just want to get this out real quick and make sure to let all my people out there know one thing, as far as the G-Unit reunion sh*t on me, I ain't with that sh*t," Buck told a crowd of concert fans. "We got too much unfinished business to happen, 50. I'm not with none of that sh*t -- I just want to make sure we get that clear. I'm not with it my n*gga, you took a real n*gga through too much my n*gga. If you want war, we gonna go to war [and] we gonna do this sh*t in a real street way until one of us dies my n*gga. I'll play that game with you. It's only right, somebody's gotta do this in a real way...Even if I lose my life in being a real n*gga, one thing y'all motherf*ckers know is that [I] was a real n*gga...When a n*gga playing with a n*gga's life then you treat a n*gga with no emotions. You take a n*gga's life. So either meet me in h*ll or heaven, f*ck you, f*ck G-Unit." (EME T.V.)

After i read this, i just couldn't believe this was the same buck that, 4 years ago, was, at every chance he got shouting G-UNIT!!! I just feel for him right now, because it shows that he is going through a lot, because 50 CENT just left him in LIMBO! for the last 2 years. He didn't release him from his contract, and buck can't do anything(any recordings, or album releases, except from mixtapes) unless 50 releases him; or he ends his contract with 50. He, unlike GAME, was signed directly under G-UNIT, so he can't just jump ship like that. I guess he should have weighed his options before making that move.

rap albums on billboard top 200 charts

It is only usually that EMINEM would be at the top this week. If you know his track record with sales, then you know that he could't have sold lower than he did. Eminem's RECOVERY album sold 774,000 copies this week to put it as number 1, both on the RAP & HIPHOP charts, and also, the over all TOP 200 CHARTS ON BILLBOARD. And in the world charts, he sold 1,098,000 copies in its first week; that is very typical of eminem. The hype of the album also brought back his last year's best selling rap album on the charts again this week. RELAPSE sold 8,400 copies, bringing the total sales to 1,986,000 copies in the U.S so far.

Drake is number two on the charts this week, with his "thank me later" album selling 157,000 copies this week. That is okay for a normal rapper, but with all the hype drake had, and all the money that has been spent on promoting the album in the last year or so, i was expecting it to do better than that. He is at a total of 604 this week. That is a long way from 2 million copies; what LIL WAYNE predicted the album would do in its first week.

The one and only rap band i know, "the roots", are on the charts this week with their new album, HOW I GOT OVER. The album sold 51k in its first week in stores.

B.O.B's "adventures of bobby ray" sold 19k this week, bringing the total sales to 268,000 copies. Nas and Damian Marley sold 8,900 copies of their DISTANT RELATIVES album this week, bringing their total sales to 134,000 copies.

drake talks about sick mom

Drake is talking about cancelling his European tour because of his sick mom. I feel for him, because, through some of his lyrics, it has shown that he drew a lot of inspiration from her; like she really helped him in becoming who he really is. A lot of tuff/gangstar type rappers (tupac,nas...) have made song about the role of their mom's in their life, so if a rapper like drake wants to talk about his mom, and her health it is more than okay.

I am just saying this because i read comments of some bloggers that are saying he is bringing up the case now, because his album is not doing so good, so he is using this story to distract people from the criticism that he is anticipating. I don't think that is the case, but nothing is impossible in this world, i wouldn't think he would take it that far though, just for his career.

I would like to analyse his sales so far; his "thank me album" debuted last week with 447,000 copies, and has sold and then 157,000 copies this week; i think the sales is not looking too good. Maybe if he had sold like 230k this week, it would have been good. The rate he is going, he might struggle to reach platinum. He has sold a total of 604k copies, and the way sales do, he is going to keep dropping, and in like 6 weeks, he would be at like 850k, and selling like 50k a week...well, maybe he would go platinum, but double platinum would be hard to achieve; and it is funny that LIL WAYNE thought the "thank me later" album would sell 2 million in its first week.

Well, i wish him well, with his album and his mom; check out his album here Thank Me Later [Explicit]

Below is what DRAKE had to say about the issue:
"Despite my best hopes, it is apparent that my mother will need surgery earlier than anticipated. In light of this news, I have made the difficult decision to cancel my European tour in order to support her during her recovery, just as she supported me through the years. I cannot thank my European fans enough and look forward to performing abroad soon. I ask everyone to please respect my family's privacy during this time." (Statement)
