drake, fat joe and 50 cent weigh on the nicki minaj and lil kim beef

In the last week or so, there has been a lot of direct and subliminal disses from both LIL KIM and "nicki minaj" towards themselves, which started off when lil kim felt the list nicki minaj could do after stealing her whole style was to at least pay homage. I am not too sure, but I think I read some time ago that nicki credited lil kim as being one of the artist that influenced her; maybe I read wrongly.

So, the dissing has been going back and fort for the last 10 days or so, and a lot of people have weighed in on the matter.

Nicki's label mate, DRAKE had this to say:
"I just feel Lil Kim is a 'G' in the game, I feel like you're part of an era that's classic, that we'll never forget as young kids, me and Nicki, so it's like, you don't have to do that," Drake told television personality DJ Envy. "You don't have to get on stage and announce your presence and tell people to pay homage. That's a given and I watched Nicki pay homage to her time and time again and I just didn't respect it at all and whoever else was on stage with her, I don't respect that. You're just wearing your heart on your sleeve, you're showing that you're upset. And to me, nobody's done that to me yet and you know, but I would never expect Jay or Ye to get on stage and be like, 'Yo, pay homage to me! You need to respect me!' They know, they command my respect. They know their music and talent and that just signs that you're losing it, like, that's just how I felt and I really did take that personally. It bothered me and I really don't get too caught up with the Twitter, Internet stuff, but I did see it and I was like, 'You're supposed to be a 'G' and that just wasn't 'G' to me at all." ("Sucker Free")

I think I understand what drake is trying to say, that kim is bigger than that, but I have to correct him there though, when he compares the situation with if jay-z and kanye west would go up and ask him to pay homage- well, the difference with that and nicki minaj's case is that he didn't steal anybody's style, but it is clear that nicki minaj was influenced by lil kim, and her not confirming it, and then running with the whole lil kim swag when lil kim is still alive, and planning to drop a new album, now, that is a problem.

Let's read what controversial rapper, 50CENT have to say in the whole matter:

I think for the first time, I am seeing a point to what 50 cent has to say; I think he makes a point there. You know how lil kim can get with all her BIGGIE campaign, and for P.DIDDY, to now compare RICK ROSS to BIG, and then want to manage nicki, wow! I know how kim would feel about it.

Now, let's read what FAT JOE had to say about the matter;
"I think she's super dope," Joey Crack said about Minaj. "I think she's sexy, she's doing her thing. She's killing them, fly fashion, she's got it all, you know what I'm saying? It's like, sky's the limit. Yeah, Nicki Minaj needs to pay homage, she needs to say, 'Yo, Kim is dope.' What's wrong with that? 'Yo, Kim is dope, she's the sh*t.' I'm a fan, I've been in the game for f*cking 17 years and I still say KRS-One is my idol. I still say LL Cool J is my idol. It's nothing wrong with saying 'Yo, Kim is the sh*t.' Everybody knows that Lil Kim is the sh*t. She's a real b*tch, a living legend, down with Notorious B.I.G., why wouldn't she big her up?" (Vlad TV)

That's fat joe right there trying to be extra diplomatic, but getting his point across. Even though he is friends with YOUNG MONEY/CASH MONEY C.E.O, he has to get his point along.

To end this, I would just like to push my point across; i don't think nicki would ever pay homage, because, right now, she has all the fame, and it is getting to her head, and she would feel she is disappointing her fans if she did that; her ego wouldn't even allow her to do that right now. But what I have to say is that, in a lyrically battle, lil kim would show nicki minaj who the baddest bitch is.

what's up with fat joe?

As i said before, and i would repeat, i am a fan of fat joe's music; and i don't care what people say about him. You can keep hating and saying he has been using "big pun's" rhyme book all this while; come on! Howmuch rhymes could pun have penned down? I laugh when i hear people say stuff like that about joe.

If you really want to feel the real fat joe, then go and listen to any of his albums, and not just the songs you hear on radio, and i guarantee that you would change the way you see him. But, i can't force you to like any rapper, you are entitled to your opinions.

Joe is currently about to drop his 10th album; like him or not, howmany rappers get to drop 10 albums, and whether you are talking positive or negative about him, at least he is still relevant enough to be in your discussion. And if you want to count success; he might not have sold millions and millions of copies of his albums; but he does have albums that have gone platinum, and a lot of singles that have sold in excess of 3 million copies, so you can't fault him.

And another reason why i would always be a fan of his music is because, no matter how commercial he might get, you would know that he is doing this rap thing for the love and nothing more.

He is about to release his 10TH album, THE DARKSIDE VOL 1, which will be dropping on june 29. Apart from the first single, "slow down: ha-ha", which features southern rapper, "young jeezy", he is dropping the follow up, "if it ain't about the money", on may 24th. The single is to feature r&b crooner, "trey songs".

WATCH OUT FOR THE DARKSIDE

FAT JOE'S MOVE TO E 1 RECORDS.

I have always been a fan of FAT JOE'S music, i can't say i have followed him from his first album, REPRESENT (1993), but since my cousin, demola somorin, gave me his loyalty album in 2002, i have been a fan, and have never been dissapointed.

It just surprises me when people keep saying the dude is wack, or too commercial, or this and that. Well, everybody has a right to an opinion, and that is just how the way life works, but sometimes i just feel that the large proportion of the people that are saying all these things have never listened to his albums, but just judge from what the media is saying, or what 50 cent is saying, or what their best friends told them; it should not be so.

Anyway, back to the story at hand; fat joe just made a move to E1 records, which was formerly koch, and he is going to be dropping his latest album, "dark side", which is his 10th album. He had gone independent after being dropped by atlantic records, sometime between 2004-2005. But i think his move to E1 records would make it better for him.

I have always seen fat joe as rapper that loves the art and wants to stay relevant, but not go too much with thie swing; he may release some commercial singles, but you need to listen to his albums to know what the man is made of.

BELOW IS WHAT FAT JOE HAD TO SAY ABOUT HIS MOVE TO E1 RECORDS:

"I moved everything to E1, I started out with Alan Grunblatt," Joe explained to DJ Envy, "and with all the success we had with DJ Khaled, all his albums, I feel real good about their marketing and promoting team and we're just going in...I put up my own money for my projects so in the back end I can see the most...I'm into owning my own masters, that's the only thing I really, really care about is just owning my own stuff so 20 years from now my kids can eat off of that. That's what's important to me..." (Sucker Free)

FAT JOE ABOUT TO DROP HIS 10TH ALBUM; THE DARKSIDE:VOL 1.

No one would think that FAT JOE would come up with another album so soon after his last one, J.O.S.E 2, flopped, selling only 12k in its first week; and all the clowning that 50 cent did to him.

And it is funny that the same 50cent flopped with his own album too...anyway, back to fat joe, who is working on his 10th album, THE DARK SIDE: VOL 1. I think this is why i like this dude, he loves the art, and wouldn't let some set backs in his career hold me down.

He has already dropped the first single from the album and it features YOUNG JEEZY. The single is titled HAHA (SLOW DOWN SON). I wish him all the luck.
Below is what he had to say about the single:

"Congratulations Welcome to THE DARK SIDE!! The first single off my new album ft. Young Jeezy HAHA(Slow Down Son) YA ALL WELCOME!!!!," he wrote Thursday (February 4). "Here is the Clean Here is the dirty link again it I TOLD YA I WAS COMING WITH THAT MONSTER JOINT WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE!!!!! CRACK @Scoopdeville My brother that beat is a monster you see what me and jeezy did to that thing there !!!!!" (Fat Joe's Twitter)

A LOOK AT THE CHARTS.

Yeah! I don't give you the billboard top 10 rap albums again, because billboard doesn't publish that anymore, but i does not mean i can not still tell you how your favorite rappers are doing on the charts.

Your man JAY-Z is still doing good on the charts with his 11th album, BLUEPRINT 3, and he has already gone platinum. And he is still waxing strong on the charts. This week he moves 55,000 copies, bringing his total to 1,116,000 copies.

Ghostface is not doing to well on the charts, this is his second week on the charts with his "ghostdini; the wizard of poetry in emerald city", he moves 4,600 this week, bringing his total sales to just 31,000 copies.

Fat joe's J.O.S.E 2 is a very dissapointing album, commercially, for the artist, as he has just moved a total of 11k in two weeks. He moved 8,300 in his first week, and 2,900 in his second week.

T.I' paper trail album managed to find it's way back to the charts, and moves 2,900 copies this week, bringing the total to 2,023,000 copies sold so far.

FAT JOE AND 50 CENT AGAIN.

I hate it when people say 50 CENT destroyed JARULE's career, JA was already dropping, and it was not like 50 went at him all by himself, he had EMINEM,BUSTA RHYMES, and even the legendary DR DRE going at ja with him. So,i would not completely agree that he solely destroyed ja with those diss records, and gimmicks he had going. And i will also not buy into the idea that 50 was the sole reason for FAT JOE'S J.O.S.E 2, selling so low. It did just 8,300 first week, and people, and all the damn bloggers are saying 50 has killed him. Why didn't 50 kill RICK ROSS, with all the effort he put into destroying him. He only made ricky make one of the best albums of 2009.

Fat joe was having problems with his record label, and didn't get enough publicity for the album. Hell, i am a fan, and i didn't even know he was dropping till like a week to the time. So, it is clear that a lot other people didn't know too. I am not saying he would have sold millions if they did know, he has not been known to sell millions through his career, but i guarantee he would have sold at least more decent than that. All the people that keep saying 50 killed this person or that person, what would you say about somebody that had his first two albums selling over 10 million copies each, then he drops his third album(CURTIS), and he barely sells over a million copies? What would you say about that? Did he kill himself?

Please, let us stop listening to what the crowd think is so, and think for our selves for once. Forget sales, if an album has boring wack songs, then you can say it ain't good, but if you just judge it on sales, without listening, then that's just a shame on you.

FAT JOE AND JAY-Z MEET FACE TO FACE.

If you all didn't know, fat joe and jay-z have been bitter rivals, even before big pun died. I don't know what caused it, but it has been like a cold war between this 2 for a long time now.
I can remember when nas ended his beef with jay, fat joe went on radio and talked about how dissapointed he was. He even said he wanted to die. If you didn't know, fat joe has been a nas fan for a long time before then, and he always disliked jay.

Just recently, they bumped heads at joe's album release party, which jay mistakenly appeared at. Below is what sohh.com had to say about it.

The feud between Jay-Z and rapper Fat Joe may be simmering down, but it's not over. Both attended a party at club Imperial the other night, and spies said they didn't speak at all. One source says, 'Jay-Z arrived and totally upstaged Fat Joe. He rolled up in a Jeep with no roof or doors, and was blasting out his new song. Then, when he got into the DJ booth, the whole club just came to a standstill. Fat Joe was not a happy camper. He made sure he wasn't in the DJ booth when Jay-Z was there. Instead, he ordered a bottle of Hennessey and looked moody in the VIP area. Then, later on Twitter, he thanked Jay-Z for stopping by his party.' (New York Post)

BELLOW IS JOE'S TWEET.
"Shouts to Jay Z and Swizz for coming thur my party at imperial!!!

50CENT AND FAT JOE AT IT AGAIN.

On monday, 28th of sept, it was reported that 50cent was rushed to the hospital after he had collapsed while listening to the new fat joe album, j.o.s.e 2. The doctor later confirmed that 50 had a problem with his auditory cortex, the part of the brain that has to do with processing sound. Blah! Blah! If you don't get it, none of that happened, he was just trying to diss joe.
Fat Joe responded to that today, saying 50 should get off his dick.
I wonder where 50 got that album, cos it does not drop till oct 6.

THE FALL OF EAST-COAST RAPPERS IN HIPHOP (PART 2)

I was on a hiphop site yesterday and someone gave a reason for the fall of the east-coast rap legends, especially new york rappers. The two reasons were actions made by jay-z and 50cent.
In mid to late 90's, nas and mobb deep were rap legends, respected for their mic skills. Then jay-z drops takeover in 2001, dissing mobb deep and nas on basis of money and album sales. That should not have been the criateria for judging a good rapper.Making rap legends look like nothing in the eye of the public. He was at his peak then so he rode on that. Thank God nas was able to show him that skills matter a lot.
Then secondly, 50cent, who had been relevant for just about 3years at the time, went on a rampage on more rap legends.
In a bid to promote his 2005 album, the massacre, he dropped a diss track taking jabs at rap legends like nas, fat joe and jadakiss(the l.o.x).
You would never catch t.i taking lyrical jabs at bun b(ugk), even though he's more successful. That's what keeps southern rappers relevant.

BIG PUN'S WIFE VERSUS FAT JOE (PART 2).

If she got $125k for the endangered species album, and she sold his publishing for over a hundred thousand dollars, then she should be good. I think if she had the rights to his publishing and got all the money off his third album, endangered species, then joe did the best he could. She should try and be creative and market her late husband's legacy. Instead, she made a dvd of how she was physically abused by her late husband, big pun. How does she suppose she would get profits from his legacy when she goes on to murder his already dead character.
I think it would be better if she had fat joe as an ally not an enemy

BIG PUN'S WIFE VERSUS FAT JOE.(PART 1)

BIG PUN PASSED IN 2000 AND HIS WIFE, LIZA RIOS HAS BEE TAKING SHOTS AT FAT JOE, ACCUSING HIM OF NOT HELPING HER OUT SINCE PUN PASSED.
Bìg pun was fat joe's employee and good friend. And pun's wife believes that it should be his responsibility to see to it that she and her kids are okay financially. Joe said he has helped her out in the past and that he has not made a dime off pun's music since pun died.
They have been going back and forth for a couple of years now. Recently, they have started their on and off arguement through interviews. Pun's wife claims joe has not helped out since pun died.
Joe said she got all of the endangered species album(pun's third album) earnings, and also got pun's publishing. Pun's wife claims she only got $125,000 off the album.
